Who We Are

About the Coptic Hope Charity

Coptic Hope Charity (CHC) is a community-based, non for profit organisation that was established in 2013.

Coptic Hope Charity is passionate and determined to change the lives of underprivileged families. All members volunteer their time to ensure all funds raised are directed towards individuals and families, minimising administration costs.

We believe that all people are created in the image and likeness of God and are loved equally by Him. We believe all people have a right to the basic necessities of life, such as clean water, food and shelter, as well as opportunities to grow and develop as dignified members of healthy and happy communities.

Coptic Hope Charity aims to enable access to life essentials to the poor and marginalised following in the footsteps of our Patron Saint, Anba Abraam. The charity supports and develops underprivileged communities around the world, predominantly in Egypt. We strive to improve the conditions of their communities through the provision of:

  • Monetary support to families in need through direct sponsorship
  • Support and fund for the development of medical services and facilities
  • Housing provision for the homeless and improving substandard living conditions
  • Disaster relief funds
  • Education support
  • Marriage expenses support
  • Emergency financial assistance

Our History

We are a non for profit Coptic Orthodox Christian organisation initially formed by a group of volunteers who were inspired by the selfless example set by Bishop Ana Abraam, affectionally known as “Friend of the Poor”. Coptic Hope Charity originally began in 1998 as an organisation named “Anba Abraam Friends of the Poor” with a number of zealous youth who where passionate about assisting the poor and needy.
