We’re a Melbourne-based Coptic Orthodox Christian charity dedicated to transforming the lives of families living in poverty. Established in 1998, we’re passionate and determined to make a real difference in the world by supporting families to help them thrive and break the cycle of poverty.
We founded Coptic Hope Charity to respond to the needs of families struggling to survive by supporting them financially and giving people hope. Many families live in despair, unsure how they’ll feed and clothe their children or send them to school.
You can brighten their day and offer hope of a better life by sponsoring a family for just $60 a month. Your sponsorship provides improved living standards, food and clothing for the entire family.
We support families living in poverty through our Family-to-Family Sponsorship and provide funding for Special Needs as a result of sickness, housing difficulties, marriage preparation or difficulty accessing education.
Every year we organise Easter Hampers and Christmas Hampers for struggling families who can’t afford special food to celebrate these special occasions. In addition, we organise Emergency Appeals in the event of natural disasters in Australia and around the globe, as well as other humanitarian aid.
All donations of $2 and over are tax-deductible.
Unlike most charities, almost 100% of our funds goes directly to those in need, thanks to the unwavering dedication of our committee members who volunteer their skills and time.
We’re a Coptic Orthodox Christian charity, committed to supporting poor and marginalised communities in Egypt and Fiji following in the footsteps of our Patron Saint Anba Abraam.

St Abraam, the Bishop of Faiyum and Giza, was known as the Friend of the Poor and declared a Saint in 1964. His life was dedicated to serving the poor and rich alike. He never turned anyone away and opened the doors of the diocese to create a refuge for thousands of the poor.
His example inspires us to serve those who are less fortunate by donating our time and money to help change the lives of Coptic families who struggle from day to day.
